LORDSTOWN STUDENTS SHOW IMPROVEMENT ON ACT SCORES

Lordstown Local Schools is is proud to report a significant improvement in ACT scores according the Five Year Trend report as part of the College Readiness Letter released this week by ACT. In addition to the table below showing score improvements from 2013-2017 we are proud of our students and staff for exceeding the state average in all areas: English, Math, Reading and Science as well as the Composite.

Grad YearEnglishMathematicsReadingScienceComposite
201319.519.320.420.520.0
201723.222.724.322.723.3

Improved ACT scores can result in increased opportunities for scholarships and for college admission. In addition to a focus on college and career readiness in the classroom and the creation of an ACT prep course offered in 9-week sessions to interested high school students during the school day have all contributed to improving these results.

Lordstown Schools Alumni Night and Sink or Swim Fundraiser

Lordstown Schools Alumni Night and Sink or Swim Fundraiser

Lordstown Schools is excited to invite alumni back to the school this coming December 22nd for Alumni Night at the Boys Basketball game. The evening will feature distribution of bricks from the recently demolished Lordstown School and a special Alumni presentation.

We are also excited to be joining with the Village of Lordstown as we raise funds to conduct a feasibility study to determine how much it will cost to make repairs and upgrades to the pool located at Lordstown High School. An actual cost to make the necessary repairs and upgrades has not been performed and this will provide school and village officials the necessary information to determine the feasibility of exploring the future of the pool.

This “Sink or Swim” fundraiser will take place from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM in the High School Commons Area outside of the High School gymnasium. Food choices will be available with choices of Ham or Chicken Dinners with sides and a beverage. Costs will be $12.00 for Adults, $10.00 for Senior Citizens and $8.00 for Students. Sausage and Pepper or pulled pork sandwiches with chips will also be available for $5.00 each.
