Lordstown 100 Year Celebration Information

See Something, Hear Something, Say Something

As students and staff return to school tomorrow morning we will continue to review school safety procedures to continue providing a safe learning environment at Lordstown Schools. A key part of school safety is communication. We commend our students and school families for promptly reporting anything you hear or see that causes concern or is suspicious in nature. Such reports have helped us address issues before they could become more serious problems.
 
These concerns can be reported to any school official: Teacher, Counselor, Principal, Superintendent, School Resource Officer, the Lordstown Police Department as well by calling the statewide hotline 1-844-SAFEROH. If one of these parties is not available seek out another or please call the hotline. 
 
We strive for an environment where open lines of communication about such concerns can be reported, investigated and appropriate action taken to maintain a safe environment for all of our students. Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing our students back Tuesday morning.

Lordstown Take a Veteran to School Day
Lordstown Local Schools will be hosting its annual Take a Veteran to School Day on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 9 AM. Below is a link to forms we would like all participating veterans to complete to help us appropriately honor them for their service. The History Channel has again provided gifts for each veteran. We look forward to the opportunity to honor our veterans on November 9th! Please return forms by Monday, November 6th.

LORDSTOWN STUDENTS SHOW IMPROVEMENT ON ACT SCORES

Lordstown Local Schools is is proud to report a significant improvement in ACT scores according the Five Year Trend report as part of the College Readiness Letter released this week by ACT. In addition to the table below showing score improvements from 2013-2017 we are proud of our students and staff for exceeding the state average in all areas: English, Math, Reading and Science as well as the Composite.

Improved ACT scores can result in increased opportunities for scholarships and for college admission. In addition to a focus on college and career readiness in the classroom and the creation of an ACT prep course offered in 9-week sessions to interested high school students during the school day have all contributed to improving these results.

Senior athletic banner picutures are immediately following the sports pictures in the gym around  3:15 pm. All athletes need to contact their coaches to borrow a uniform, if their sport is not in season and/or any props for the photo.

Lordstown TPP Advocacy

Lordstown Schools currently receives nearly $1.6 million dollars in Tangible Personal Property tax reimbursements from the State of Ohio. Current law phases the entire amount over time costing our schools much needed dollars at a district that receives much less from the State of Ohio than the average school in Ohio. While Lordstown Schools provided testimony to Ohio House Committees and Ohio Senate Committees advocating for a solution to this issue that would benefit Lordstown Schools the legislature needs to hear from all stakeholders: school staff, school families, area businesses and the Lordstown Community.

You can help in one of two ways. Attached is a document titled TPP letters. This document has letters addressed to all thirty-three Ohio Senators. Also attached are the contacts for all of the senators. You can print and mail these directly to the senate offices or print and drop them off at Lordstown Schools on Friday, May 19th or Monday, May 22nd. You can also come by the school and pick up copies and return them signed to the school by 2:00 PM on Monday, May 22nd.

Members of the Class of 2017, whom have completed their classes, will be heading to the statehouse on Tuesday, May 23rd. These students will be delivering the signed letters directly to the offices of the Ohio Senators. Thank you for helping us advocate for fiscal fairness.

Open Enrollment Applications

Open Enrollment Applications are now available at either building or the Superintendent's office from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday thru Friday.  All applications along with required documentation are due by April 30, 2017.  Please see below for policy information and applications.
